Last Week This Morning: Circus at the legislature
By TJ Hernandez
Wendy censured. The Arizona Senate voted 24-3 to censure Sen. Wendy Rogers following her speech at white nationalist conference AFPAC, where she called for the hanging of political rivals. Notably, language regarding her racist and anti-semitic rhetoric was taken out of the censure resolution, and the censure serves more as a slap on the wrist with no real consequences. The censure was not even unanimous, and Sen. Kelly Townsend was excused from the vote. She later called on Rogers to explain her comments, as if racism, white supremacy, and conspiracy theories need explaining.
Circus at the legislature. The Arizona GOP is the real circus, and are continuing to fail Arizonans while attacking our democracy. We were at the Capitol on Monday to showcase it.
End attacks on democracy. AZ GOP legislators are trying to chip away at our democracy, bill by bill, as several bills attacking voter rights move forward at our legislature. Go to http://bit.ly/3CaJN2y, find your legislator’s number & tell them to vote NO!
A slap on the wrist is not enough. Tell your lawmaker that Sen. Wendy Rogers should be expelled from the AZ Legislature for her disgusting support of white supremacy and racism.
