Last Week This Morning: Adel is out

By TJ Hernandez

Adel resigned. Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel has resigned following over a year of scandals and corruption coming out of her office. It wouldn’t have happened without Mass Liberation Arizona, who  have been calling for her resignation from the beginning, and organized to keep the pressure on. Now, Adel’s former opponent in the 2020 election, Julie Gunnigle, is running in the special election–so far she is the only Democrat to enter the race.

Republicans in the Legislature should be ashamed. Republicans in the Arizona Legislature passed a number of horrible bills in the timespan of four days. They approved a 15-week abortion ban. They’re attacking trans youth with a ban on trans youth in sports and a ban on youth receiving gender-affirming surgeries. They passed an unconstitutional requirement for people registering to vote, which would remove millions of current eligible voters from the voting rolls. The AZ GOP clearly does not care about what Arizonans need, and now these bills await Doug Ducey’s signature.

Phony town halls not good enough. Senator Sinema seems to think hosting tele-town halls that are not publicly shared in advance counts as listening to Arizonans. It’s not enough.

Demand Ducey’s vetoes. Call Gov. Ducey at 602-542-4331 and tell him to veto the attacks on trans youth, our right to vote, and the 15-week abortion ban. Find our script here.
