Last Week This Morning: Sine die at last

by Abigail Jackson

Trouble ahead for our unelected senator. A poll released this week showed that Senator McSally is trailing Mark Kelly by 13 points, and the GOP is getting very nervous.

Sine die at last. The Arizona House of Representatives finally adjourned on Friday after passing their top priority: a bill making it harder to sue businesses that get workers or customers sick.

“We fear that a couple years’ sentence will become a death sentence”. COVID-19 cases in Arizona’s prisons have doubled in the past week. This is what is happening on the inside.

Demand the release of people in detention centers and prisons. Join Puente Arizona’s ongoing actions to #FreeThemAll.

Tell the US Senate to pass the HEROES Act. Arizonans need support now, and this bill gets us part of the way there by extending unemployment payments and authorizing an additional $1,200 stimulus check. Tell Senators Sinema and McSally to support it.

We keep us safe

Public pressure works. Although the Trump administration continues to push violent and dangerous anti-immigrant rhetoric, the last week has shown that our consistent defiance is beginning to pay off. In San Diego, hundreds of community members banded together after ICE was seen raiding local restaurants; they surrounded the ICE agents, chanting, and peacefully herded them […]
