Republicans vote to cut benefits for veterans

Medication abortion is protected in Arizona. Access to mifepristone remains safe, legal, and accessible in Arizona. Late last (last) week, on May 21st, the Supreme Court extended a pause on a ruling by a Texas judge attempting to ban the abortion medication mifepristone by stripping it of FDA-approval. After the Texas ruling, AG Kris Mayes joined a multistate coalition to challenge that lawsuit, and 19 Arizona lawmakers signed on to a letterdemanding its reversal. Arizonans’ access to mifepristone is also protected by a separate Washington state case, thanks to Mayes’ proactive action to protect reproductive rights. Republicans back MAGA budget. Last week, Republicans in the U.S. House passed their extreme debt limit proposal, voting to slash benefits to kids, veterans, and the elderly. The bill would have also canceled Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan as well as threatened various clean energy programs and regulations. It has no chance of being signed into law, but demonstrates how out of touch Republicans are with the needs of constituents. 5 out of 6 Republican Reps. from Arizona voted for the measure: Juan Ciscomani, Elijah Crane, Paul Gosar, Debbie Lesko, and David Schweikert.
