Where’s Wendy?!

Where’s Wendy? At state Sen. Wendy Rogers’ request, an Arizona judge issued an order barring a reporter from contacting her at any of her homes, in an apparent attempt to silence questions over her residency. Under Arizona law, candidates must be registered to vote in the county of the legislative district they are running to serve. Rogers, who owns several homes in the East Valley, is registered to vote at a Flagstaff mobile home. She has largely evaded questions from reporters and refused to address rumors that she does not actually live in Flagstaff, but instead used the address to have an easier chance at getting elected in a more conservative district. According to several neighbors, Rogers’ Tempe home seems to be her main residence.
Kyrsten’s luxury life. Sen. Kyrsten Sinema has spent more than $100,000 of campaign donations funding a luxury and lavish lifestyle on the so-called campaign trail, ignoring some donors who want their money back. According to campaign finance reports, she spent nearly $20,000 alone on “wine-related expenses”, $10,000 on “posh restaurants”, $45,000 on chauffeurs, $65,000 on jet charters, and $35,000 on luxury resorts. Sinema has been raking in corporate donations from Wall Street after she killed proposals last year to close the $18B carried interest tax loophole that primarily benefits wealthy hedge fund managers and private equity executives. Meanwhile, Sinema has neglected to hold a public, in-person town hall during her term.
Gosar must be held accountable. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Rep. Paul Gosar promoted an anti-Semiticwebsite that spreads Holocaust denial as part of his weekly newsletter. Sadly, this is nothing new for Gosar, who has a long history of promoting anti-Semitic and white supremacist content. Despite over thirty instances of this behavior, Arizona Republicans have stayed largely silent, refusing to hold him accountable. It’s clear that the normalization of neo-Nazi ideology is known to incite violence, and this behavior is completely unacceptable from a lawmaker. Paul Gosar needs to be expelled from the U.S. House and Arizona Republicans need to answer for their refusal to condemn him.
No tuition increases. On Friday, Arizona students and education activists gathered to protest the decision by the Arizona Board of Regents to raise the cost of tuition, fees, and housing for Arizona public university students.
Justice for Trent. Trent Bouhdida is a 29-year old Black man from Phoenix, Arizona who was sentenced to over 16 years in prison for possession of one ounce of marijuana. No one should be in jail for possessing marijuana, especially now that it is legal in Arizona, yet BIPOC continue to be disproportionately affected. Sign the petition to tell Gov. Katie Hobbs to reduce his sentence.
