Last Week This Morning: Mask up, AZ

by Abigail Jackson

Mask up, Arizona. Please. Governor Ducey finally, finally allowed cities and counties to require masks, but still won’t put a mask requirement in place for the state as a whole.

Good news from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court rejected the Trump administration’s “arbitrary and capricious” attempts to end DACA, as well as deciding that employers could not discriminate against LGBT workers.

Still no answers. Weeks after Dion Johnson was shot and killed by Department of Public Safety officer, the department still has not released any records, despite repeated demands for transparency.

Marking Juneteenth. Chef, writer and musician Lazarus Lynch shares his thoughts on a complicated holiday.

What comes next on DACA? Hear from local attorneys and immigrant rights advocates on the implications of this week’s ruling.

“Things are getting worse.” An ICU doctor in Phoenix describes what he’s seeing.

When will Black lives matter to prosecutors? Hear from the candidates for Maricopa County Attorney.

Stay home.  As much as you can.

Wear a mask. And make sure friends and family do the same.

Support increased investment in education. Sign the petition to get the Invest in Ed initiative on this year’s ballot — while remaining socially distanced, of course!

We keep us safe

Public pressure works. Although the Trump administration continues to push violent and dangerous anti-immigrant rhetoric, the last week has shown that our consistent defiance is beginning to pay off. In San Diego, hundreds of community members banded together after ICE was seen raiding local restaurants; they surrounded the ICE agents, chanting, and peacefully herded them […]
